That amplifying reputation actually traces back to the mineral's own name. Epidote comes from the Greek epidosis, meaning addition or increase, originally a reference to an extra crystal face mineralogists noticed on the stone. Crystal practitioners later adopted that etymology more literally, describing epidote as a stone that intensifies whatever it's placed alongside, for better or worse, which is why it's often deliberately paired with other crystals rather than used alone.

Epidote is a calcium aluminium iron sorosilicate, and its green colour comes directly from iron within the crystal structure, with more iron pushing the tone deeper toward olive. It forms in metamorphic rock that has undergone significant heat and pressure, typically appearing as elongated, striated prismatic crystals, exactly the form visible across a cluster this size. Balochistan is among the finest sources worldwide for well-formed epidote, and this piece is entirely natural, untreated.
