Himalayan Smoky Quartz Point 45mm — Small Gem Grade Crystal

This small Himalayan smoky quartz point measures 45mm, raw and untouched since it came out of the mountain, with the water-clear gem grade transparency the region is known for and a soft smoky tint through the body. At 24 grams it's genuinely light in the hand, which makes it a natural first crystal or an easy addition to a grid you're already building.

A fair question with a small point is whether size affects anything. In crystal practice, no. Smaller pieces are simply more portable, which is why a lot of people end up favouring them. This one is well suited to being carried, kept in a car, or tucked into a bedside drawer. Smoky quartz is traditionally called on for grounding and calm, a settling sort of stone rather than an energizing one.

A closer look at this specimen

The Himalayan deposits produce quartz inside alpine fissures, fractures pulled open in the rock during the mountain-building that raised the range, where mineral-rich water crystallized slowly enough to yield real optical clarity. The smoky tone is a natural colour centre, formed when trace aluminium in the quartz was affected by the low-level radiation of the surrounding rock over geological time. Nothing about the colour is added or enhanced. The terminated tip formed exactly as you see it.

Using and caring for your point

Try it on a desk during focused work, in a pocket on a busy day, or resting on the body during quiet meditation. If you build crystal grids, a clear point like this is a useful directional piece. Keep it in a soft pouch when travelling so the natural tip stays intact, and give it a wipe with a dry cloth now and then. Avoid parking it in a hot sunny window for weeks on end.
