This Kunzite Specimen is a notably tall, slender piece, with sizes ranging from 110mm up to a striking 170mm, giving it a presence that shorter kunzite specimens simply don't have. Discovered in 1902 and named for Tiffany & Co. gemologist George Kunz, kunzite carries a soft pink to lilac tone that's become one of the most recognisable heart-chakra crystals in collector circles.
A question worth asking about any elongated crystal is whether its length is natural or reshaped: here it's entirely natural, an etched termination formed as the stone grew and partially dissolved in stages, leaving a texture that no cutting tool could replicate. So what does kunzite actually do for the heart? It's said to open emotional blockages gently, working as a bridge between the heart and crown chakras rather than forcing anything.
About this specimen
The colour comes from trace manganese within the crystal, the same subtle chemistry responsible for so many gemstone hues. Kunzite is also known in the trade as the "evening stone," since its colour can fade with prolonged sun exposure, which is part of why pieces this size are usually kept for display rather than worn as jewellery.
- Sizes: 3 pieces, 110-170mm tall
- Weights: 134g to 339g
- Colour: pink to lilac, from natural manganese
- Chakra: heart, bridging to crown
Displaying your Kunzite
Its height makes this piece a natural focal point on a mineral stand or a shaded shelf, somewhere it can stand upright rather than lie flat. Keep it out of strong direct sunlight to protect its colour over time. A soft cloth and lukewarm water are enough for the occasional clean; skip soap, steam, or ultrasonic cleaners, which are too harsh for a stone this delicate.
Please note: crystals are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Keep small pieces away from young children.
