Why does a naturally symmetrical multi-crystal grouping like this carry particular appeal? Genuine symmetry in mineral specimens is largely a matter of chance rather than anything guided, since each crystal nucleates and grows independently within the same pocket, competing for space and light as conditions allow. A configuration where three crystals happen to develop with this kind of visual balance, one dominant, two flanking, is a considerably less common outcome than the more randomly scattered or single point growth this locality usually produces. A closer look

This specimen was mined at the Tsumeb Mine in Namibia's Otjikoto Region between 1998 and 2006, part of the final years of production before the deposit closed for good. Each crystal displays dioptase's classic prismatic to rhombohedral habit, with crisp, reflective faces that capture light independently across the three point arrangement.
