About this specimen

Kunzite's gentle pink comes from a trace of manganese in the crystal, and this piece keeps a clean, elongated silhouette that plays nicely with light from different angles. The stone is named for George Kunz, the Tiffany gemologist who identified pink spodumene in 1902, and the Pech Valley in Kunar remains prized for well-formed, softly coloured crystals exactly like this.
