Kunzite crystal from Pech Valley, Afghanistan.
This striking natural kunzite crystal in faceting gem grade from the renowned pegmatites of Pech Valley, Kunar Province, Afghanistan displays exceptional clarity and a well-defined natural termination. With its elongated, blade-like form and delicate pastel pink tone, the specimen has both mineralogical importance and elegant visual presence. Perfect for gem cutting lapidary for faceting.
The crystal measures 120 mm (4.72 in) in height, 38 mm (1.50 in) in width, and 6 mm (0.24 in) in thickness, and weighs 135 grams (4.76 oz). Its tall, slender profile emphasizes the classic prismatic spodumene crystal habit, making it an impressive display piece while also retaining remarkable transparency.
This specimen is described as faceting-grade kunzite, meaning the internal clarity is high enough that crystals of this quality are often used as rough for fine gemstones. Even so, intact terminated crystals with this level of transparency are highly desirable in their natural form, where the geological structure remains preserved.
The crystal exhibits excellent clarity with subtle internal growth features, allowing light to move through the crystal body and reveal the delicate structure typical of spodumene. The termination is intact and well formed, providing a complete natural expression of the crystal’s growth within the pegmatite pocket.
The pegmatites of Pech Valley are internationally respected for producing some of the finest kunzite specimens in the world. Formed in lithium-rich granitic pegmatites deep within the Hindu Kush mountains, these crystals developed slowly under unique geological conditions that allowed them to reach exceptional size and clarity. Because of this, Afghan kunzite has become a staple in serious mineral collections.
This specimen offers a rare combination of size, clarity, and aesthetic balance, making it equally compelling as a collector specimen or a refined natural sculpture.
For Serious Mineral Collectors
Collectors value kunzite from Pech Valley for its clarity, crystal size, and classic spodumene habit. Faceting-grade transparency combined with an intact termination is particularly desirable, as many crystals of this quality are cut into gemstones rather than preserved as natural specimens.
For Luxury Home Décor Buyers
With its tall architectural form and soft pink tone, this kunzite crystal works beautifully as a natural statement object. Displayed in natural light, its clarity allows the crystal to catch and diffuse light subtly, adding a refined organic element to a curated space.
For Interior Designers
Mineral specimens have become a distinctive feature in contemporary interiors, valued for their authenticity and texture. The elegant proportions and neutral pastel tone of this kunzite make it suitable for modern, minimalist, and nature-inspired interiors, where natural materials elevate the environment.
For Energy Practitioners & Meditation Spaces
Kunzite has long been associated with the heart chakra and emotional openness. Its gentle pink color and calming visual presence make it a favored stone for meditation areas, personal sanctuaries, and spaces designed for quiet reflection.
A remarkable natural crystal that embodies both geological history and understated elegance, sourced from one of the most celebrated kunzite localities in the world.
