What exactly is chlorite, and how does it get inside a clear quartz crystal? Chlorite is a group of green silicate minerals that commonly forms in metamorphic rock, and when quartz crystallizes in a fissure alongside it, microscopic chlorite particles can become trapped within the growing crystal, tinting it a soft green rather than staying perfectly clear. In Himalayan alpine fissures, mineral rich hydrothermal fluid circulating through rock fractures is what allows this kind of combined mineral growth to happen. Chlorite quartz is traditionally associated with cleansing, grounding, and energetic renewal.
