About this piece

Each tile is handmade, so the exact placement of the shell and the natural veining in the lapis will vary slightly from piece to piece, part of what makes it one of a kind. Lapis lazuli itself is a metamorphic rock made mostly of the deep-blue mineral lazurite, and the finest material has come from the Sar-e-Sang mine in Afghanistan for more than 6,000 years, one of the oldest continuously worked gem sources on earth.

Displaying your tile

Hang or stand it somewhere it will not take direct impact, since the inlay work is delicate, and keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the lapis colour. A soft, dry cloth is all it needs for dusting, and it is best to avoid water or cleaning sprays around the shell inlay.
