About this specimen

Sodalite was first identified in Greenland in the early 1800s, though it did not become widely known until a large deposit was discovered decades later in Bancroft, Ontario, earning the nickname Princess Blue after a visiting royal chose it to decorate a stately home. This piece is entirely natural, with no colour treatment, so small variations in tone are simply part of genuine sodalite.
