That effect has its own name, aventurescence, and it comes from thousands of tiny flakes of fuchsite, a chromium-bearing mica, suspended inside the quartz. Each flake catches light independently, which is why the shimmer travels as you turn the stone rather than sitting in one spot. Nothing is added to produce it.
